From the "dean" of RAD University:
The current version of IP (IP version 4) has been extremely successful,
allowing global internetworking as we know it today. It is the limited
address space that is the primary motivation for IPv6. Other motivations
include new Internet applications that will benefit from the added features.
Though none of us has a crystal ball, and we have seen many protocols
fizzle out, though when first appearing they held great promise for the future,
it appears that it is worth paying attention to IPv6.
This portal links to several projects that can assist you in gaining
familiarity with IPv6.
